GISBORNE AVOOL SALES.

Tho Gisborne wool and skin sale took place yesterday afternoon, there being the usual number of buyers present. The sale was commencel on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Alercantile Agency Co., Ltd., by Afr. J. A\ r . Bright, who reports the following prices:—Fleece and pieces Gld to 7^cl, crossbred fleece 8d to lOd, lambs 8)d to 9d, bellies Cd, locks 4Jd, dead wool Bd, slipe Gd, skins 53d to 83d. pelts lOd to Is lOd, salted pelts Is 4d, hides 3d to 5Jd, tallow 21s to 22s Gd. Alessrs. Bennett, and Sherratt reported that the wool and skins prices average Id in advance of last sales. The following were tho prices:— Fleece IOJd, dead wool SJd. lambs 83d, locks 4£d, skins Old, tallow 22s Messrs. Williams and Kettle report. that lambs were not in active demand, one lot brought 93d, while the bulk sold at 9d to 9.1 d, excepting seedv lots, which brought. Jd less. Skins elicited strong competition, well saved lots bringing up to 9d lb. Ordinary station skins brought 7fd to BJd, short wooled pelts in good condition made Is 7d to Is lOd each. Hides: A lino of heavy ox hides from Nelson Bros.’ works; there were evidently several orders to purchase this, being the only line to oiler, evoked strong competition, resulting in tho record price of GJd per lb being realised. Tallow: 51 packages wore offered. which made 24s per hundred, decent lots of clean crossbred bringing lOd per lb. Rougher lilies made from 9d to 9Jd. Lambs’ wool was not in strong demand, SJd to 9ad being realised. Pieces and bellies solcl up t.) 75d, while scatclimgs brought? up to and as low as 5d for rougher Messrs. Dalgety and Go’s, prices were:—Fleece wool 9d to 92d, lambs 8d to 83d, crutchings Gd to 61 d, locks 4Jd to sd, dead wool 7Jd to 73d, skins 6id to 9d, salted skins 2s 8d to 3s 6d green skins 3s to 3s Gd, hides 4gd to sd, tallow 17s to 19s Gd. Alessrs. Common, Slielton and Co. report the following prices i—Fieecc wool from 9d to 9’cl skins fid to M, pelts 33d to 53d, salted pelts lOd to 3s 3d, lambs 8d to 9d. locks in pieces 4? t d to sd, slipo 6.1 d, dead wool 7(1 to 83d.
