Both men showed good cricket. Übort and W. Andrews woro tho most successful bowlers. To Ruu were dismissed for exactly 100 runs, Übort 24, G. Cox 1.6, Maude 14 (not out), gotting most of tho runs. I’ress Association. CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The first test match between the Marylobono Club’s team and a New Zealand team was commenced at Lancaster Park this afternoon. The weather was dull, and a light shower fell as play started. New Zealand won the toss, and as tho wicket was good olected to bat. The only members of the Home team to make anything like a stand wore Hadilon, who after compiling 25, was caught by Johnston off May, and J. J. Mahoney, who, when tho stumps were drawn, had made 66 not out. Mali onoy played with groat confidence all round the wicket, and scored as well off Simpson Hayward’s underbuilds as off the bowling by tho others put ou.
