PORT AWANUI
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr and Mrs Jackson have returned from visiting the Exhibition, and are very well pleased with what they saw, and would advise anyone who has the oportunity to hear the Besses o’ the Barn Band, which I believe will be an eye opener to most people. Mr Jones, Native Land Court Judge, is in Awanui, and will open court on Monday. He expects to be hero about a fortnight. The carpenters are nearing completion of Mr Duff’s Rose Hotel, which will be a great imp roveme iifc both in appearance and comfort to travellers. A great number of natives passed down the Coast to-day to attend the tangi and funeral of the late Wi Fox. Mr A. T. Ngata will leave here next week for Wellington to go on the Native Land Commission. We wish it every success. The Haupiri was hero on Thursday evening, and landed passengers and cargo, and left same night for Te Araroii and Auckland.
