AN IMPOSTOR.

PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night. The trial of Annie Wilson Williamson, a youn" married woman, on a charge of attempting to utter a forged cheque, and of attempting to obtain goods and cash by means of false pretences, was concluded to-day. The accused stated that the cheque was given to her by her husband, and when she presented it she was not aware that it was a forgory. In reply to Mr Tole, Crown accused admitted carrying on a course of systematic imposture, and obtaining money from charitably disposed people by plausibl i pleas. The jury brought in a verict o guilty, with a strong recommendation ot mercy. A sentence of six months was passed.
