Reuter’s Ottawa correspondent reports that Sir Wilfcid Liurier announced the inauguration of a policy of protection of the Canadian press against tho Amerioan yellow press. He explained that he would shortly concede intellectual preferences by granting British periodical and newspapers cheaper postage in order to disseminate good sound literature in Canada, giving British settlers in the western provinces more information regarding their old homes and families.
