Dunedin, last night, At the Presbyterian synod last evening the committee re Theological College, reported Chat the total attendance was 23, of whom three belong to other denominations. The Rev. A. Cameron, in moving tho adoption of the report, said there were 70 men, all, with few exceptions, at work in Now Zealand, who liad been trained at the College. The report was adopted, and the donors of scholarships, thanked. The llcv. Dr Sidey, who has been 22 years clerk and treasurer of tho Presbyterian Assembly, was presented with a portrait of himself in oils and a purse of gold in recognition of his great services. Rev. J ames McKerrow, Moderator, spoke in high terms of the work done for tho church by Dr eidey, who, in replying, asked the Moderator to hand the portrait to the Theological committee, to bo placed ainon the records of men who had loft them.

At the Presbyterian General Assembly yesterday discussion on tho temperance committee's report was resumed, when ministers and elders gave testimony as to the improved state of affairs in Invercargill and Oamaru as the result of the coming into operation of no-license in these districts, tho opinion being expressed that if a poll were taken again die majority for no-license would be largely increased. The report was adopted. The statement of the treasurer reported that the income of the funds had been very satisfactory. There

were balances to the credit of all funds, except the Maori girls’ school, and the Day spring Funds had increased, and with exceptions the funds were still in credit. The report was adopted.
