PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT Received 10.24 a,m., Oct 31. Sydney, Oct 31. For the Inter-State match there was bright weather. The match was played on the Victoria drive. The greens were excellent and fast, pleasing the visitors, The New Zealanders led from the start. Several local players, over-anxious, played poorly at the start, but improved towards the finish, The visitors were always in front, Bouskill had 13 to 1 against Rowley, Dali 16 to 1 against Harold, and Payne 16 to 1 against Moody. In the last named rink Moody played a remarkable game personally. . The New Zealanders unanimously said Moody was the best skipper they had met in Australia. When the scores in that rink were even at 23, the locals lying three, Payne made a fine shot that won the end. McLaren had a fine tussle with Barret, another crack local player, the winner of last year’s fours and singles champions handicap. McLaren, with last bowl of the match, played a beauty and converted the shot against him to one in his favor, amid great excitement Wheeler in his rink played excellently. Sneddon and Bouskill were both in fine form. The scores were : —Bee, Hancock. Gardner, Wheeler 25, beat Reave, Winnall, Moore, Gurr 15, Akhurst, Bennie, Manning, Keast 16, lost to McDonald, D. Rowley, Cresswell, Bower 27. Reid, Osmond, Smith, Payne 26, beat Counter, Bastard, Thomas, Moody 25. Devine, Watter, Buchanan, McLaren 23, beat Schultz, Hardy, Sutherland, Barrett 22. * Black, Waddell, Scott, Sneddon 31, beat North, Walker, Leslie, Hcdgert 17. Court, McGibbon, Mowlem, Bouskell 32, beat Evan, Morrison, Wood, A. Rowley 12. Bastings, Ledingham, Rankin, Dali 31. beat Lodge, Hoffmann, G. Rowley, Har* rold 23. New Zealand 184, local 151. In the evening the local Bowlers’ Association gave a dinner to the visitors at York Hotel. There was a large and representative attendance. Mr Jacobs, president, presided, and proposed the visitors, to which Mr Wheeler responded. AU Payne prop, ssd cuu loc.l Association, and Mr Chl’enco Moody, the secretary, rosponied. Messrs Wieeler aod Payne speke in complimentary terms of the p omise given by local bowlers. They said ■Adelaide gave visitors a splendid time. An excellent oonostt programme was provided.
