Advioe haß been received from Noumea that the Rev. 0. 0. Godden was murdered on tbo Island of Ope, New Hebrides, on October 15, by a returned Kanaka, in revenge for being deported Irotn Australia. There are no details to band.
Mr Godden was aged 30, and belonged to the Anglioan Melanesian Mission. He had oharge of the schools at Opa. He was an ex-student of Moore College, Sydney, which be visited some ten months ago for the purpose of marrying.
