Parliament met early this afternoon preparatory to prorogation. Ia the Sonat a motion fir the adoption of the report on tbc Constitution Alteration Bill, which provides for taking over State debts, Dot being adoptod by a statutory majority, tbo Bill was laid aside.
In the Hou-o of Representatives the Bpoakor road a list of Bills which had received tho Governor»General’s assent, tngetbor with an intimation that tho Qovcrnor-Gonerol has reserved tho British Preference Bill for tho signification of the King’s pleasure. Mr Josoph Oook asked if dutieß woro to continuo to bo colleoted under the Prefer enoa Bill.
Mr Dcakin replied : As the Bill has been roservod it is not an Aot. Therefore the duties will not be collected.
It is announced that in oonstquenoe of tho appointment of Mr Isaacs to tho High Court tho following rearrangement of the Cabinet has boon made: Mr Grcom, Attornoy-Geneial; Mr EwiDg, Minister for Home Affairs ; Mr Mauger, honorary Minister. Members adjourned to the Senate, whero the Governor-General read tho prorogation spoeoh.
