During the ptst week settlers of th 3 district have been busily engaged in tho work of docking their lambs, aud the increase of tbs various fljcks is reported to be h'ghly satisfactory. Oa some fa.ms the percentage obtained is considerably above tho usual average. The pastures are looking well, Bnd there is aa abundance of foed for all kinds of stock. GooJ progress is being made with the bushfelling, and sevoral of the contracts are completed ; in somo leca'itios the appearanoo of felled bush indicate that the work has b:en well done. An r ccident occurred this morniDg to a young man named Harry Clark, who was felling bush for Messrs Coop Brothers, Hineroa. It appears that the unfortunate young fellow feLd a tree with the obj ;ot of knocking another down which had been partly out tbrongb, The tree in filling bounded back eff the stump and t-truck the axemrn on tho right leg, which it is feared is b'oken in three p'aces below the knae. The eufferer was taken on a Bledga to Mr Tullock’s house at Tarewe, and afierwa ds convoyed lo the Giaboroo Hospital in one of Mr Redstone's vohiclos.
Tho Waikokopu Harbor B:a-d have at last decidod to effret seme improvements at Waikokopu, and a suitable goods shed will be e eeted ia time to store the ensuing clip of wcol; a tram'ine is also to be made for the purpose cf conveying goods from the eh'd to tho eteamboßts and vico versa. Shearing will commence at the Tarewa bed on Novemb-r l»t.
