Sir John Forrest has prepared an estimate showing the saving whioh will be effected by the year 1952, when the whole oi the existing Ssato loanß will have matured. The calculation is based on the belief that tho Commonwealth cauli float loanß at a quarter por cent, better than the States. Toe total amount of tho existing debt is £286,680.000, and in tho period mentioned the saving would amount to jußt under sixteen million pounds. Sydney, Sept. 19. Sailod at 2.30 p.m., tbe Zsalandia. Sydney, Sept. 19. The oolliery owners, at tneir meeting, agreed that the night shift should be abolished at one mine from Maroh Blst, and at the other from June 80th next. It is understood that tho miners will have to deoide to morrow whether they will aeoept this compromise. On the answer will depend whether the mines are shut down or work continued.
