herbalistio medioine, was oharged with reoeiving 10s from Elizabeth Trip on terms requiring him to aooount for tbe same and failing to do so. Hughes called as complainant’s piaoe, and it was understood that his medioine would do good to

the woman, who was suffering from consumption. After negotiation ho agreed to supply medicine for ss, and was given 10?. He promised that the medioine and ohange would be delivered in three-quarters of au hour, but complainant bad not seen him until she saw him in Court, For

the defence evidence was giyen by a widow that tbe aooused, who had been attending her, had called and left a small paroel with an address on it, which she undertook would bo delivered by her boy. Her grandson had got hold of the pa-eel, tore off the address and burnt it, and she was unable to deliver it. She brought the paroel into Ooutt. On being opened it

was found to contain medioine. Tbe professor’s reason for bringing her the parcel instead of delivering it, was, as she said, because he had been called to another patient. Mr Graham, 8 M., said he WB9 quite satisfied there was no fraud, and the case would bo dismissed. It was a pity tbe polioe had not been told of tho evidenoe for the defenoe. ' Palmerston North, last night. John Parvie Gillies, who was charged, with causing an explosion at the Bunnythorpe dried milk factory, and who was liberated on tbe grand jury finding no bill at the last Palmerston sessions, was entertained at a social attended by 300 people at Bunnytborpe to night, and presented with a purse of 40 sovereigns.
