PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night, A . private hoQsfi was burglariously entered yesterday morning while the occupants were away, and jewellery to the value of £6 - was stolen. A man alleged to be the author of the burglary was arrested in the afterroin. Wellington, last night. Lord Plunket yesterday opened the annual exhibition of the New Zealand Academy of Pine Arte. Dr W. Pell, president, referring to the prospects of a permanent art gallery, said the Academy Council had about worth of pictures stored away. They had also sent j£Boo to England, which was being expended in the purchase of p'ciures. It was expected a permanent gallery would be opened soon after Ohris:mis. The Governor said that the results aohieved by the academy were wonderful, since art was not supported as it should be, but he appealed to cultured people for more help. Sir Jos. Ward opened the new Municipal buildings at Petone on Saturday afternoon.
