Harry Elijah Bend, a contractor and member of the Leyton Urban Council, was charged with having defrauded tbe West Ham Guardians of £2OO sterling by supplying coal other than that contracted for. He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Received 12.08 a.m., August 13.
