PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night. At a moating of the Trades and Labor Council to-night it was assortad that some middlemen are importing potatoes as seed potatoes (on which no duty is imposed), and selling them for table purposes, thus evading tho duty of 25s a ton, to which potatoes for consumption are subject. It tvaa resolved to draw the attention of the Minister of Agrioultora to the matter, and repeat tbe forrnor rtqaest to remove tbe duty from bJI potatoes. The ■ Council resolved fso endorse' tlje protest of the Auckland Saddlers’ Union against the award recently made by the Arbitration Court iu the saddlers’ dispute (iu which no increase cf wages was provided for), and to communicate with the Premier and Minister for Labor on the subject. Tho Council also resolved to tender its con gratu’ations to Sir Joseph Ward on his selection of his Ministry, and to the Hon. G Fotyltjs on bis appointment to the position of Minister fir 'Education. 1
