BOROUGH LAMPS.
To the Editor Gisborne Times.
| Sir, —It is gratifying to note that an 1 official of tho borough bas had tbo courage to draw attention to tho very unsatisfactory way in whioh eome of the streets of the borough are lighted. It seems to me that the public should support tho nightwatchman, es doubtless his statement will be challenged by those most interested, and therefore take this opportunity of expressing my own and other people’s opinion that tho ligbtiog of tho streets, especially in tha suburbs, should receive more attention from tho authorities. For instance, tho light at tho corner of Stout stroet, across tho bridge, is almost invariably out, or noarly so, on every rough and stormy night—'.ho very night on whioh lights are most needed. It is sincerely to bo hoped (hot tho Council will ib as it suggests aud make some deduction from tho Gas Company’s account to onsuro moro atlention to the ratepayers’ requirements. —I am, etc , W. LISSANT CLAYTON. !
