PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night. A ease of alleged bigamy oatuo under tho notion of Mr B. W. Dyer, S.M-, in the Polioo Court to-day, accused being a middle-aged man named Claud Olarouce Neville. On behalf of sccusod Mr Martin urged that the matter should ha tnkan to Nelson, whore tho nil-god offoncp was committed, Tho only tbing to bo proved at Waihi was the first marriage, which Neville would admit, so that all other witnesses being at Nelson it would bo fairsr to acoused to have tho oaso tried nt Nelson. Tho Magistrate concurred with this expression of opinion. Henry William Paton pleaded guilty at the Polioe Court to-day of breaking and entering Glonalvou, a well-known boardinghouse. and stealing .£355 in notes and gold, £SO worth of jewellery and a pair of boots, the property of boarders. Ho was oommitled for sentence.
Dunpdin, last night. A meeting called by the School Committees’ Association wbh hold this ovoning to consider the quosrion of free places in secondary sohools. Tho following motion was unanimously adopted': " Thai a pupil shall be qualified to be the holder of a free place who, being over 15 years of oge on the Ist December preotd’Dg too date of his admission to a secondary sohool, has obtained a certificate of proficiency os defined by tho regulations under tho principal Act.”
At an inquest at Lawrence on Lizzie Paterson, who was found dead in the oemotery with a bottlo containing solution of oarbolio acid alongside, a vordict was returned of saioide while of unsound mind.
