The disabled vosbo! asked to be token in tow. After muoh difficulty a line was got aboard tho Glaucus, which was deeply laden with coal. Soon tho strain on the tow lino was so heavy that itenapped. It was too dark to rendor further as-istanoe. Though the Glaucus was blowing in* shore the captain refased to leave. The Kanowna stood by until morning. The Glaucus was found anchored olose in* shore. Two more lioes wore got aboard, slowly towing tho vessel oat in tho teeth of an increasing gale. Both ropes parted. A fourth line was made faßt. From Saturday at midnight to Suoday morning the steamers praotioally hove to, wallowing in mountainous seas. The ioroe of the gale, adding to tho already tremendous strain on the Kanowna, she gradually drifted to Wilson’s Promontory. Bounding the Promontory the oable snapped. The Glauous set sail and managed to reaoh the entrance of Waterloo Bay, where she anchored. Tho captain of the Kanowna, convinced that tho Glaucus was safe, resumed her voyage to Sydney. During the galo a number of big seas washed the Kanowna, and a number of the orew and passengers sustained Blight iojuries.
