The Department of InJustiies and Comma: co has received the fjl'owing cable from the High Commissioner, London, dated June 80th : The mutton market is dnll, owing to a poorer demand experienced. Light weights are extremely scaice, however. The average price of Canterbury brands is 3JI, and North Island 3£<3 per lb. There is a bad sale for heavy weights. Canterbury brands of this description are quoted at 3|d, and North Island brands 3|f. There is a good de mand for all lamb, and the ma'ket is con? aeqaentiy fi m. There is an endeavor amongst holders to increase the prior, end Canterbury brands are soiling at 6d, and other Canterbury brands at 4ijl per lb, The beef market is very dull. Hindquerteis are quoted at 3jjd, and fores at 2|d. Chilled Piate binds are selling at B£d, and fores at 2} 1. Tbo butter market fs fi.-m. Now Z;aland stocks are a'most exhausted, and the choicest New Zialand brands are quoted at 105 s per owt, Danish at 110 s, and Canadian at 103 s. Tbo cheese market is firm. There is a good demand, whioh has been stimulated
sy the canned meat scare. White makes are quoted at 64s and oolored at 60s per owt. The hemp market is.firm, and the demand is expected to increase. Wellington is qaoted at £33 per ton. There is no alteration in the cocksfoot market since last week. The wool market is a shade weaker, Current quotations for Bradford tops are : Thirty-sixes low crossbreds Is 6d per lb, forties low crossbreds Is forty fours medium crossbreds Is BJ, fifties halfbreds Is 10 Id, fifty-sixes quarterbreds 2s lid, sixties Merinos 2s 4d,
