THE STEAMER OAKBURN.
By telegraph, Fjrew Aca’n, Copyright London, May 23. The steamer City of York was bad'y damaged by fire iu Tilbury Dooks. Her cargo of ten thousand toas of jute was destroyed.
Sydney, May 23. The steamer Oakburn, whioh left New York for Sydney on April 18th, has been totally w eoked at D nkerpoint, Cape Colony. Tho crew are safe. (Per Press Association.)
Wellington, last night. Captain Fletcher, of the barque Pitoaim Island, burnt at sea recently, cables from Fort Maulliog. Chili, that Waddilove and Lambert, of Wei i gtnn, and Hayward, of Normanby, are safe, McKenzie, the other New Zsalander, was in the second mate’s boat, whioh has not yet boen reported.
