Mounted j R Has, and the employees of Messrs Com man, Shelton and Co., yonr Clnb meeting with fair success. It was found later on that if the Clnb was desirous of playing regular matches some other idea would have to be mooted, and, thanks to the kind consent of the F.B. Crioket Association, your Club affiliated to that body, arrangements being made that it should take up the fixture of the Patulahi Club, which had been compelled to withdraw, owing to inability to get a team together. Several matches were played with the other clnbe of the Association, and your committee consider that, by strict attention to practice, yonr Club should have a team in the field next season which should have a fair chance of success in the senior oontest. Before concluding, your Committee would place on record ita thanks to many of the members of the other teams for their kindly advice, more especially Mr W. T. Wynyard, and for the hearty enoonragemeot given the Club to compete in senior oricket in the Bay.” The Chairman, in moving the adoption _of the report, congratulated the Club on its excellent financial position. Mr MoOaul seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. A COAOH REQUIRED.

The Chairman, referring to the statue of the game in the bay, said that it was absolutely necessary that the services of a coach should be obtained. He bad listened to the discussion in regard to the game, and in order to bring their young players forward it was to their interest tc employ the services of a duly qualified ooaoh. He was sure that the cricket en thusinsts of tho bay would take the matter up and bring the matter to a successful issue.

Mr Neale heartily supported the remarks of the Chairman. Ho considered that the only means of liftiog cricket from its present state was to employ the services of a ooacb, and this could easily bo achieved by calling upon the cricket enthusiasts. No difficulty would be obtained ia getting the necessary amount of funds. Efforts should also bo made to improve the condition of tho Gisborne grounds. He was Bure that Messrs W. L. Bees and J. W. Nolan and others, who were ardent supporters of the game, would be only too willing to assist. Mr H. Maude said that he would do all in his power to forward tho movement. The Chairman heartily expressed himself in favor of the proposal, and on bis motioD, seconded by Mr Harcus, a motion was carried referring tho matter to tho Crloket Aesooiation. UMPIRING, A good deal of discussion took place in regard to the question of umpiring, and on the motion of Mr Dan Barry it was re- • solved that the matter should bo referred to the Cricket AssooiatioD, the meeting -v recommending that qualified umpires should be appointed for eaob match.
