The cricket match, New ZsalaDd v. Melbourne Club, was continued at Lancaster Park at noon to-day, when the weather was dull and threatening. Tbe wicket was on tho heavy side, and the out fielding slow. The rain held off until the lunch adjournment, when a steady drizzle commenced, but not heavy enough to prevent play being resumed. However, after the close of Melbourne’s innings, rain fell heavily, and at 4.15 p.m. the umpires inspected the wicket, and decided that the ground was too wet for further play. With four wioke’s down for 140 Melbourne continued their innings, Armstrong (72) and McLeod (40) being the not outs. The soore slowly advanced to 163, when Armstrong was oaught at short-leg by Luek, off Monaghan, for a floe inDiogs of 83, mads without a ebanoe. Irwin followed, and another good stand resulted, the Boore being taken to 199 before MoLeod was well caught and bowled by Tucker, Irwin and Henty stayed to gethec until lunob, the score then being 218 for Bix wiokets. Oa rosumiag Malone quickly finished his inDiogs for 3 runß. Irwin was stumped after makiDg 32 Henty suffered a similar fate when 15 Laver was olean bowled before sooting. and Butlec was oaught by Tucker, off Mslinr, for nothing.' There were five extras. Malone took seven wickets for 64, Downes one for 67, Monaghan one for 50, and Tucker one for 7.
