Montague, arres’od ar Hobatt oo a warrant for leaving New Zealand with the property of his creditors, was brought to Inveroargil! to-day by Detsotive MoUveney. D fiiculties were experienced in seouring an order for Montague’s extradition. An iDto osting point of law was argued before a Judge, and it seems very doubtful whether a fugitive offender can be iega'ly extradited from the Commonwealth to Now Zealand. The difficulty was got over in Montague’s case by the latter deciding to withdraw his appeal sgainßt extradition,
