The total for the 44th week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition is 1452, and the grand aggregate 80,337. The highest layings for the week are : Jonathan Hodson’s white Leghorns (Blenheim) 29, Miss MeCallum’s white Leghorns (Blenheim) 29, Mrs Griffiths’ silver Wyandottes (Blenheim) 26, Alexandria Poultry Co.’s White Rooks 26, Miss Murphy’s rosecomb black Orpingtous (Blenheim) 26. The order of merit reals : H. Leger (Levin) 1277, Brooks (B)uth Australia) 1132, Marl borough A. and P. Association 1130, Jonathan Hodson 1117, Mick Shaw (Blenheim) 1109—all the above being white Leghorns, Hookey’s brown Leghorns (Nblsod) 1074, The moult is proceeding on healthy lines.
