Information has been reoeived from Rasseil to tbo effect tbat Judge Jones, with the assistance of Mr Goffe as interpreter, has been anooessful in settling matters in connection with Moiaiau No. 1 Block, whioh it was freely stated would have entailed a long and patient hearing without any material progress being made. However, the Government apparently knew what they were about when taking tho Judge from East Coast work and sending him up to the Far North, for the effecting of suoh a settlement in bo short a time among the fighting Ngapuhi is no mean achievementThe pleasing feature of the settlement is that the natives have been brought to an amicable agreement on all the chief points.
