ARMY ESTIMATES.

In the House of Commons the Army estimates were submitted, totalling £29,796,00D. Mr Haldane’d memorandum states that he does not desire to attempt any serious changes in the existing polioy without full consideration. He abandons Mr Forster’s home army sobeme, adopts a short rifi>, and reduces the established strength of the services by 5300 men, through the disbandment of the Royal Gam-on Regiment, and the withdrawal of the garrison end artillery from Halifax and Esquimau.
