THE HARBOR.
, (To the Editor Gisborne Times.) S'r, —I am sa'isfiel that I have at last btained an admission from Capt. Gumaing. His letter yesterday morniDg shows iow things have been going from year to rear. He stat?s than an engineer sent a nisleading report and plan of our harbor ro the Marine Depaitment and have them jlaoed in the Nautical A'manae, to ead the seafarers, rlso the ratepayer by telling him that there was 8 f-.ot of water on tbs bar when there was only between i and 5. Who would bo to blame if lives were lost through this m»representa’'ion ? I blame Oapt. Gumming for not reporting this matter to the Board when he knew it. In conclusion I might state that the steamer Australia was brought up to the wharf on October 2lst, 1895 before high water, and the soundings were nothing less than lift Bins, and she never touched. --I am, etc., NURSED,
