SUDDEN DEATH.

Mr W. A. Fitzherbert, a well-known resident of Wellington district, died unexpectedly from heart failure at Lower Hutt to-day. Deceased, who was a son of the late Sir Wm. Fitzherbert, was in his 60th year.
BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
At a meeting of thß Board of Directors of the Bank of New Zealand to-day Mr A. Michie, branch manager of the Bank at Dunedin, was appointed general manager in Buccession to Mr A. Mclntosh, who has resigned. Mr Thomas, at present acting branch manager at Dunedin, has been appointed tc the position of manager.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Council of Victoria College has awarded the junior Queen’s scholarships to tbe following:—Alex. Whyte, of Have look, Hawke’s Bay ; lan Grant, of Stratford ; Sueanah Hopkirk, of Dannevirbe; Dorothy Mason, Terrace Sohool, Wellmg ton; Hugh Biss, of NewtowD, and Norman Paulsen, of Dannevirke.
