Reuter’s Tokio correspondent reports that at a meeting of the Sectional Budget Council of the Diet, Chishi, progressive leader, inquired whether, as the result of the alliance, Japan intended to urge on Britain reform of her army organisation. Tearanshi replied that Bhe would do so at some future date. Reuter’s office at Loudon to’egraphed for elucidation of the statement. It is believed the Minister merely promised to reply at a future date.

Chishi referred to the expansion of the Japanese army owing to the alliance. He remarked that tbe British army was not undergoing development equal to the British navy. He asked whether the fact did not indicate the necessity for improving, lest there be one-sided responsibility. Terausehi’s reply was brief and affirmative.
As the oable is understood, Terauschis, when answering, had in mind| ar.icle seven of the Anglo-Japanese agreement.
