FIRE BRIGADES’ CONFERENCE
(Per Presa Association.) Nelson, last night. At the Fire Brigades’Conference the report ot tb9 committee that Lieutenant Braddon of Hokitika was only one of many applicants entitled to a star for 25 years’ service was adopted. The annual votes of £25 to the Association’s paper and £6O to the secretary were passed. It was deoided to lelegraph to Superintendent Hugo that tbe delegates reach Wellington on Friday, when they will bo entertained by that officer. The Exeoutivo was asked to request the Government to place some restriction on the use of flannelette. Votes of thanks passed included the Nelson and Richmond brigades for handsome treet j meet, and the Government for services, The new officers were installed, the president, Mr Ballinger, presiding. Certificates of merit wore presented to ex Presidents Toomey and Battle, and the Confe-ence closed, Mr Ballinger asking for a largo mußter at Obristohuroh next year.
