THE UNEMPLOYED. THE INTENTIONS OF THE GOVERNMENT.

By telegraph*. Press Asa’n,, Copyright Rocoived 9.20 p.m , Jan. 29.

London, Jan. 29. I The Central Workers’ Unemployed I Commit oo are orgaoising a demoostration I in Hyde Park for the 12th to urgo voting Imperial expenditure to enable local bodieß to employ unemp'oyed. Mr Sydney BurtoD, speaking at London, said it was not difficult to say what I the Government would do with their majority in tho immediate future. They intended to put elementary education on a National basis, and to deal with Trade Union funds. They desired later to deal with the maDy sooial and labor questions before them on a substantial radical basis, but they must beware of the danger of | shipwrick on a rock whereon tboy bad previously been wrecked, namely trying to run too many horses abreast. There must be give and take, but in view of the Government's largo majority the House of Lords would be less likely than formerly to regret or mutilate measures It might be anticipated the Bills carried in the House of Commons would have in some way or other to receive tho assent of the House of Lords.
