TRAGIC DEATH.
I BLOWN TO PIECES WITH ! DYNAMITE. ! A GLOOM OVER GREYMOUTH. (Per Press Association.) Greymoulb, last night. A young man named Walter Cocke, age 27 years, employed as foreman at Forsyth and McKay’s, ironmongers, met a tragic death this afternoon. Shortly before four o’clock Cooks was nailiog a caso of dynamite caps, vvhtn an explosion took plaoe, blowing the body to pieces. The explosion was heard all over town, and windows in the vicinity were broken. The store was bally damaged, one side beiDg partly blown out. The disaster oast qui'o a g'oom over the town, as Cocks was well known, being captain of the Battalion Band and a general favorite. Deceased was to be rparried shortly. Mr McKsy, one of the partners, bad met left Cocks before the explosion.
