(Per Press Association.) Duuedio, last night. At a social, attended by about 150, held last evening, Mr J. A. Millar, M.H.R. for Dunedin ‘Central, was presented with a purse containing 200 sovereigns. Mr Sinclair, the chairman, said it was not only the residents of Dunedin but several in various party of the colony bad asked to be allowed to subscribe to tho purse. Mr J. A. Miller, in the course of his reply, re ferred with regret to tho defeat of Sir W. R. Russell, and emphasised the necessity for keen criticism of all measurer, so long as that was done-in the interests of the ooantry.
