CRICKET.
WELLINGTON DEFEAT 3 AUCKLAND. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The match between Auckland and Wellington finished at 530 in favor of the latter by 214 runs and three wickets. Hickson and Redgrave, the not outs, carried tbe score to 299 before they were separated, the latter hittiDg merrily for 77, including eight fours. Fourteen runs later Hiokson was bowled by a shooter for a fine innings of 135, which took him three hours and ten minutes, and contained cricket of a high order. After him Brice hit harder still, and totted up 50, including two eixers, in tbree-quartars of an hour. At lunoh time the innings closed at 380 for seven wickets, Laws (not out) 24. Tbe drizzle in the morning made the ball greasy and handicapped .the bowlers. Oliff took three for 67, but none of the others oould do aDythiDg. Auckland had four hours left to win or draw, but were all out by 530 for 177—Hemus 58, Brackssmith 37, Lusk 18, Hussey 16, Oilflf 13, McNeill 11. Monaghan took four wickets for 52. The visitors speak very highly of his bowiiDg. Uhaman clean bowled the last three men, and secured four in all for 55. The fielding on both sides to day was weak, and a number of chances were miseed.
