BRONZE MEDAL FOR MR KELLY

(Feu Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. The Couocil of the Royal Humane Society decided in regard to the Punau casp, io which two Maoris rescued a body at Napier, which was proved to have been io the water about two months, that in view of the opinion received from the governing body in England, the Council could not see jts way to make an award or consider the matter further. The following awards were made:—George McDonald, Wellington, rescuing a boy from drowning, letter of commendation; Reginald P. Wilder, Christchurch, resouing a boy from drowning at Wanganui, bronze medal; William Brooke, chief officer of b.p. Star of Australia, for roecumg a man from being drowned or crushed to death at Napier roadstead, silver clasp (Btooke already holding silver medal); Evan Mcßoberts, Tauranga, rescuing thiee poople from drowning, silver medal; Hugh Kelly, Gisborne, rescuing a child from drowning, brooze medal; Edward James McGuod, Pukekohe, rescuing a man from being run over by train, silver medal; Charles Walter Tonkinson, Nelson, similar rescue, silver medal; Edward P. Lavery, Kaitangata, rescuing man from drowning, bronze medal; William T. Riddock, Belfast, rescuing girl from drowning, bronze medal; Henrv Nolton and Charles FentOD, Auckland, resouing man from drowning, certificate aud letter of commendation respectively. In the case of Anno Millar, of Clive, who died while attempting to rescue her brother from drowning, no award was made owing to the absence of evidence.

Mr Kelly, it will be remembered, jumped off the Taruheru bridge and rescued a little son of Mr W. S. Lunn, who bad fallen into the deep water. Mr Belly would probably have lost his own life had not Mr Wildish and others rushed in to the rescue.
