■ (Pen Press A'HK&a'tlpjtJ)' Auckland, last night, Tbo eeoond of a series of prosecutions foe trespassing on kauri forests and bleeding trees for gum took plaoe at Rawene, HokiaDga, before Mr R. Stone Florence, S.M. George Oswall Dysart was charged on seven informations, laid by.the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland, for trespassing in Waramara estate forest on dates between the 19th and 25th April, 1905. Defendant pleaded guilty to. all charges, Mr S. Mays prosecuted for ths Crown. He pointed out the great extent of bleeding operations oarried on by Dysart. It appeared from the report of the Crown forest ranger that .11,000 trees had been bled by those engaged in this so-called industry, most of them by defendant. . It farther appears that the effect of excessive bleeding was to • cause the trees to wither and die. The Magistrate, after hearing the evidence and argument, found accused guilty. On the first offence he would fine him £SO, on the second £3O, and one the remainder £lO each; £IBO in all, with costs amounting to £16.7s 6d< - Dunedin, last night.

Two seamen on the Loch Garve were each fined 80s and ooßts for refusing to go to work. Accused pleaded guilty, but their oounsel said the men had refnsed to go' to work because of the manner in which they had been treated by tba officers. ' .

Albert Henry Lovelock, who had been arrested at Invercargill, pleaded guilty to forging and uttering a cheque for £8 10s, and was remanded to the Supreme Court for sentence.

The Otago Trades and Labor Council passed the following resolution with respect to the proposal of the Premier to hold a labor parliament:—‘‘That no con* fersnee ..will be satisfactory unless tba representatives of the workers are equal to the combined representatives of tha employers and: farmers, and that other Trades Gounoils be asked to refuse to take part in a oonferenoe nnless on the basis of equal representation.” . . rr
