The Council of the London Chamber ol Commerce resolved to try and form a coh> junction with other chambers and a central joiot committee with the object of calling attention to the question of Imperial defence. , Mr Austen Chamberlain, speaking at Btirohley, declared that neither Mr BaU four nor the Government wished to place the fiscal question in a secondary _ place at the elections, for they regarded it 'aa‘ the greatest issueto be submitted.
