A DARING ROBBERY.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. A daring robbery was committed tonight in Willis street at about 7 o’clock. A man entered the shop of Finbawf and Co., pawnbrokers, and stole about £250 worth of jewellery. Finbawf was seated in a room opening off the shop, and hearing a movement walked into the shop just in time to see a yonng man leave hurriedly. Finhawf, not knowing of his loss, walked after the man, who bolted into the Empire Hotel. Returning to the shop Finhawf found that a clean sweep bad been made of watches, ohains, etc., from his window. Meanwhile the robber had passed through the hotel into Victoria street, dropping a watch on the way, and though followed by two men, made good his escape. The thief must have entered the shop, climbed over the counter, and gained access to window by a small door, whioh was not provided with a lock.
