The hearing of the charges against Messrs Larcombe, West, and Lundoa at tbe departmental inquiry in reference to tbe voucher incident was compleled today, and the investigation was then' adjourned till;,to-morrow, when the case against Mr Willis will be taken.

In connection with the proposed Works Conference whioh the Government is seeking to bring about, the Executive of the Otago Provincial Council of the Farmers’ Union passed’ the following resolution : “ That the Exeoutive, while having no wish to decline to. send delegates, considers the matter should be ’ fully discussed by all branches before any action i 3 taken, that time has not been allowed to consult branches, that the subjects for discussion have not yet been properly formulated, that the basis of represents tion is not made clear, and that until these details are properly arranged the exeoutive consider the conference premature.” Messrs Oiarke and Orbell were appointed delegates in the event of a conference taking piaoe. Oamaru, last night, j At an enthusiastic ’meeting.held here to-night it was agreed that North Otago should be fully represented at tho New Zealand International Exhibition, the intention being to promote a epeoial collection of produce and manufactures of this district. A large and representative committee was appointed to carry out the matter. Mr G. 8. MuDro was present, and afforded much valuable information. The meeting further adopted a motion asking the Government to paBS legislation empowering looai bodies to expend out of their revenues a sum for tbe promotion of such bays at tbe exhibition. An an inquest to-day into the death of Mrs J. K. Sewell a verdict of suioide while temporarily insanß was returned. * DunediD, last night. At a meeting of post and telegraph officers and , representatives of other branches of the Civil Service, held this evening, the following resolution was carried unanimously That this meeting heartily approves of the Civil Service Superannuation Bill just circulated, and earnestly hopes it may become law this session.” A oopy of the resolution is to be sent to the Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, and the members for Dnnedin City. The Otago Trades and Labor Counoil, after considering the question of a conference between employers and employed, resolved that tho Premier be informed that in view of no satisfactory legislation being possible this session the Council does not 6ee the neoeesity for or think any good will arise from the suggested conference.
