(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. A meeting was bold this evening under he auspioes of the Trades and Labor Counoit to aonsider the matter of operations of the Harvester Trust. The Ohoral Hail was nearly full. Mr W. Uttiey, president of the Trades and Labor Oounoii, presided, and the meeting was enthusiastic. On the motion of Mr J. T. Paul, seconded by Mr A. R. Barclay, it was resolved, ".That this meeting enteis on emphatio protest against the continued and inoroasing importation of produots of Amerioan and other trusts and combines; that it calls on Parliament to immediately enaot necessary legislation to prevent the large importation of articles; that could be eoonomioally and suooessfully manufao lured in the oolony ; toat the need for this resolution is imperative in view of the threatening menaoe to the implement manufacturing and other looal industries.” !It was also resolved, 11 That this meeting earnestly appeals to patriotic New Zealand citizens and farmers to nationalise and buyartlo)e9 made in the oolony in preference to imported goods, and is of opinion that legislation Bhould be introduced .to enoonrage goods being manufactured in the oolony.” Mr H- Uttiey was appointed to represent Otago to prooeed with a deputation from Ohristohuroh to Welling ton
