Napier, last night. The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s spring meeting opened to-day splendid weather. There was a large attendance. The course was somewhat soft owing to the reoent rain. The fields were large, and the raoiog interesting. The earn of £6734 was invested on the machine. Outsiders were prominent in most of the events. The results were Tomoana Hack Hurdles—South Star 1, Catspaw 2, Reohabite 3. Sleepwell and Lady’s Link were scratched. Dive, £5 i Hack—Haukeria 1, Moral 2, Oblivion 3. Merriwing was scratched.
