Oct. 2. We have been enjoying beautiful weather this past week, and the roads are drying up quickly. It is hoped the coach will soon take up the running again. A few of the worst washouts and slips are being attended to. When completed the road should be passable for the coach. The management committee of the Waiapu Rugby Union are making arrangements for a ball to be held on the 20th of this month. Invitations are being sent out this weekThere was a meeting of the shareholders of the Tokomaru Farmers’ Cooperative Company on Saturday night, at which directors and officers for the year were elected. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr E. R. Murphy for his efforts in working the company in to existence. He was also electe< chairman of directors and treasurer Mr Hindmarsh being elected secretary pro tem. The business of the com pany is being pushed on as quickly ai I possible. A meeting to resurrect the Tokomaru library was also held last week, and Mr Sigley kindly consented to act as secretary and librarian, A balance of £4 Us was shown in the books, and with all the new subscribers that are coming forward the committee will soon be in a position to order another 150 books. A meeting of the Tokomaru Cricket Club will be held on Saturday next.
TOLAGO BAY.
At the meeting of directors of tbe Tolago Bay Saleyards Company, Mr J. D. Maefurlane was elected chairman, and Dr. J. id. Roekio secretary. The directors deoided to acquire 12£ acres of the Paremala estate, near tha woolahed, which was under offer to the Company. Messrs J. D. Macfa lane, J. A. Moore, and G.
