The total for the twenty-second week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition is 2773, whioh is a record. This brings the grand total up to 35,905, and the weekly average to 27.73 eggs per pen. Today completes the fifth moDth of the competition. The prize for the montiris taken by E. Traherne’s black Orpiogtoui from Chrißtoburcb, which is credited this being a record. The seoond plf fi led by Miok Shaw’s white Leghorft*' from Blenheim with 148. For third plaoe there is a sie, 137 being returned by both Murphy’s roseoomb black Orpingtons and G. FraDoe’s white Leghorns from Blenheim. The total for the month is 11,581 eggs. In the grand aggregate L&ger’s white leghorns from Levin are still leading strongly with 630 j Brook's white leghorns, from South Australia,' second, with 685; Marlborough A. and P. pen of white leghorns, third, with 611; Hockey’s brown leghorns, from Nelson, fourth, with 508. There are 48 hens in the broody department.
