AFTERNOON SITTING.. [(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The House met at 2.80. Sir Joseph Ward moved the recommittal of the Eleotornl Bill for the purpose of reconsidering certain olauses. Mr Taylor moved to recommit other olauses for the purpose of moving an amendment enabling women to be nominated as candidates. This was lost by 89 to 23.
A motion by Mr Herries to recommit olause 108, with a view of abolishing the present system of nomination in connection with eleotions for Maori members, was lost by 32 to 30.
EVENING SITTING, .(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The House resumed at 7.30. The Eleotoral Bill was considered in Committee. Olause 54, providing that the names of absentees shall be removed after more than a year's absence, was retained by 88 to 28. The Bill was reported, and tbe debate on tbe third reading was proceeding at midnight.
