STRANGE STORY.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night.
A peculiar story was disclosed at a meeting of the creditors of R. K. Davis, aooountant, who filed here 19 years ago, with practically no assets and debts amounting to over £IO,OOO. Debtor remained at* undischarged bankrupt. Two years ago, Mr Gerrard, Official Assignee, was approached by lawyers and asked to accept £l5O from the friends of bankrupt in Sydney to obtain his discharge. Gerrard became suspicions, and instituted in* quiries, whioh resulted in a windfall beyond his fondest expectations. It was ascertained that bankrupt bad inherited a reversionary interest worth about £2400. A Sydney man who advanced Davis money had secured an assignment, but Gerrard got the assignment removed. His creditors deoided to instruot London solicitors to sell the equity of interest to avoid delay in settlement.
