'(Par Press Association.) Wellington, lait night. The Political Reform Association haß selected Messrs John Duthie and J. G. W. Aitken as its candidates for Wellington North and Wellington East seats respectively at the general election. Both. have agreed to nomination. The Association is approaching Dr Newman to stand for Hutt, Mr A. R. Atkinson for Wellington Central, and Mr T. W. Hinlop for Newtown.

Invercargill, last r-ight. Mr Thomas Mao Gibbon, a candidate for Mataura, opened the electoral c npaign at Fortrose last night. He deolav ! himself in opposition to the Governmr ■; as at present constituted. He considered they had been in office too long. He favored paying the leader of the Opposition a salary. He supported moderate borrowing, but opposed Government extravogaanee. He thought Crown tenants should have the option of tho freehold, and raw material Bhould bo admitted free to assist •focal manufacturers against outside trusts. A vote of thanks and confidence was carried without opposition.

Hawera, last night.

Mr B. C. Robbins, a candidate for Hawera seat, addressed a meeting here last night. He announced that ho was standing in the Opposition interest. New Plymouth, last night.

The Egmont electoral roll to date has 2003 more names on it than the purged roll of 1908. The number will be materially increased before the roll closes. Mr O. Leech, who is again opposing Mr W. T. Jennings for the Egmont seat, is getting ready for the campaign. Mr H. 0. Campbell, another candidate, has addressed the electors. Mr F. Thomson, a commercial traveller, is the Prohibition nominee for the seat. The candidates for the Taranaki seat are going strong in making addresses. Mr James Elwin, a probable candidate, will address the electors here on Thursday night. It is reokoned. that the candidates who will go to the poll are: Messrs E. M. Smith, G. Tisob, G. E. Bellringer, 0. T. Mills, and H. Okey. Masterton, last night. Mr J. 0. Cooper, an Independent Liberal, addressed a meeting to-night of eleotors, and outlined his policy as follows: Progressive land settlement, freehold tenure with limitation of area, good administration of public funds, public works should be carried out on proper lines, reform of looal government, progressive educational system, equitable taxation, perfecting and improving the labor laws, reform of public service, and reform of Legislative Council.
