A serious accident occurred in the Auckland Miae at WhaDgamats, on tbe East ooast of the Hanraka Peninsula. A miner named Obas. Ross was crashed by a fall of earth, and narrowly escaped a fearful death. His loans and back were injured. He was carried sixteen miles over bad roads through the bush, bis mates assisting in relays. The firet eleven miles of the ourney oooupisd four hours. Ross was brought to Thames Hospital,where his condition is serious. An endeavor will be made to have the goldfields distriots represented at the New Zealand Exhibition. It is proposed to communioate with the local bodies and principal mining oompanies in an endeavor to have either a combined or individual display worthy of tbe Important industry and of the distriot.
