(Special to Gisborne Times.) Wellington, last night.
Mr J. A. Kinsella, Chief Dairy Com* mißsioner, states that the farmers of New Zealand are losing £1,000,000 a year by not weeding out unprofitable slock. He stroDgly advooates the Canadian and Danish, system of testing herds to asoertain what animals should be killed off. Mr Powel, contractor, has taken over the Penoarrow quarries, and is to immediately commence on the work of straightening the Huti railway. The Emperor of Austria, through Com* mander Hohuel, of the warship Panther, now in Wellington harbor, is being pro* oonted with a pair eaoh of kiwis, wekas, and keas, and a couple of tuatara* by the Minister of the Tourist Department. Commander Hohnel will return the compliment by sending a number of chamois to the Government. ,
