ANNUAL MEETING.

The first annua! meeting of the Turanganni Bowling Olub was held in the Record Reign Hotel last evening, when there were present Messrs Matthewson, Colley, Little, Hamon, Skeet, Hird, Burke, Nasmith, Edwards and Boland. • Mr Matthewson was'proposed to the chair, and stated that the Club had advanced to a certain stage which necessitated them holding an annual meeting; The green had been formed and they hoped rrith fine weather that it would be ready for play within the next two months. He referred to the difficulties which a new club had to oontend with, and: instanced the obstacles which the promoters of the Gisborne Bowling Club bad to overcome, often having to put their hands into their pookets to keep the thing going. The club was now one of the most prosperous in the colony, and had more money|thanil know what to do with. The Turanganui olub bad thrown away £47 on the old green before throwing it up, but this might ba to their advantage, as,they, had got a splendid ground, whioh was not available when they started. The balanae-sheet showed that the receipts were £482, and the expenditure £521 Is, leaving a debit bank balance of £39 Is. The assets were: Section £3OO, bonus on-purchased chares £56 6s, pay. ments building society shares £37 5s '6d, promised subscriptions estimated at £80; total £423 10s 6d. Liabilities: Bank overdraft £B9 Is, mortgage on green £307 7a 6d, labor, etc., £26 16s 6d; credit balance. £6O 5s 6d.

Id proposing (he adoption of the balaboe sheet, the chairman congratulated the club on its position financially, and stated that the bank allowed them an overdraft of £450. They would require a pavilion, a mowing machine and a windmill. 1 The balance-sheet was adopted. Tbe rules of the Club were then considered and adopted on the motion of He W. O. Skeet.

The election of officers was then proceeded with and resulted President, Mr G. Matthewson ; vice-president, Mr W. 0. Skeet; secretary, Mr Hallam ; treasurer, G. Nasmith; committee, Messrs Colley, Boland, Edwards, Hamon. and Burke. .

It was deoided to hold the annual meetings in July. The tracing of a pavilion, 27ft. by I4ft„ with ail necessary buildings, was submitted by Mr Bkeet. The Chairman stated that they would have to get a pavilion at once, and wonid also have to procure such neoessary adjuncts to a bowling grtea as a roller and mowing maohiop, and a windmill with its accessories.
