Colonel Gaodko publishes in the Berliner Tageblatt a reassuring article, as far as Britain is concerned, regarding the possibility of tbo invasion of India. Basing his calculation on Afghan resistance, he estimated that 65,000 Russians would be required to cross Afghanistan and begin an invasion with any prospeot of suoeess. Hence ho considers the daring project of General Skobeleffs successors as utterly chimerical. ;
